spreading the pretty
i finally finished my valentine's themed heart wreath! It turned out so much better than I thought it would. My hallway is now very festive and pretty :)

i love valentine's day! i can't wait to show you my handmade gift i made for david (but i have to wait to blog about it until david sees first in case he actually reads my blog, hah).

i feel pretty: make-up tutorial

i made more of an effort to actually do some fun stuff with my make-up this week and i sure do feel pretty :)
yesterday i tried a new combination of colors and it really turned out good! here is a little step by step on how i accomplished this look...

1. start with eye shadow primer. this is a must for long lasting, all day wear of eye shadow! i never wear shadow without it anymore.
2. take a mixture of black and dark brown shadows (a dab of each on the brush) and put in the outside corners of the lid, going about 1/4 into the lid.
3. layer the black and brown with a plum color, extending that into the middle. this gives the black and brown a softer look.
4. next take a yellowish gold color and put that in the inside corner, just slightly blending it into the plum.
5. use a shimmery white to highlight the corners and below the eyebrow.
6. finish with black or brown eyeliner and mascara!

don't you look pretty :) i also decided to go all out and wear red lipstick too! i'm not much of a lipstick person, but i do make a point to wear it sometimes.

let me know if you try this technique, i would love to hear what you think!

planner restyle
i love getting a new planner/life organizer for the new year, even though I usually change my system mid-year. but i have a feel this year that i will keep this one for a while. it is prefect! it has the weekly view with enough space to write down plans, with the opposite page completely lined paper so i can make my to-do list for the week! exactly what i need. i was pretty excited when i found it :)

but the only problem was that it was plain jane black. which is kind of boring to me. so i gathered some of my favorite stickers from my stash and went to town!! i had fun and love the mismatch and collage style of it now.

i love it! it even has a pocket in the back to hold those loose papers and such. and it is completely recyclable-go green :)

Now What??
The swap was so much fun and I am glad I was able to participate this time around! I met so many lovely people :) Myla, from Pursenickety, was amazing enough to give me two tickets to get items from the amazing selection of swap stuff! I walked away with a beautiful wooden sign that reads "Live a Good Life" and 3 old books with the most wonderful covers (I plan to make them into art journals soon!)

But now, I am faced with the question...what do I create now?? I have been solely creating items for the swap for the last few weeks, so I don't know what to make now that its over! Silly, I know. There are a few tutorials I passed over the last month and now I think I'm going to go back to them...
I would love to make a winter art journal, like Elsie did over at A Beautiful Mess.
Or a pair of leg warmers, now that it is getting chilly! source.
I love this wreath...I'm just a bit late with the fall though, maybe I can make it into a Christmas one! source
I know there is more, but I can't remember where they were featured...I'll have to search around! It looks like I have a couple of projects to keep me busy for a bit :)
XOXO
